History
Dorf und Gem. 1270 Blre; gehörte zum habsburgischen Eigenamt, kam 1415 an Bern, war unter Bern ’s Herrschaft nach Königsfelden gerichtszuständig. Im Mittelalter zur Pfarrei Windisch gehörig, seit 1586 eigene Pfarrei. Im Gemeindebann Birr liegt der Neuhof, einst Besitz Heinrich Pestalozzi’s, jetzt schweizerische Erziehungsanstalt. Auf dem Kirchhof Birr seit 1846 Denkmal Pestalozzi’s: Geburts- und Eheregister seit 1568, Sterberegister seit 1589. Zur Zeit 446 reformierte Einw.
