Polit, und Kirchgem. Fayl 1177; Fahir 1349; Fay 1376; Fayhy 1389; Fatyh 1438. Der Name kommt von fagetum, wegen der zahlreichen Buchenwälder, die es um geben. T177 war es Besitz des Klosters Lanthen ans, das dort eine Kapelle hatte. Das zur Meierei Bure gehörende F. wurde grösstenteils während der Burgunderkriege zerstört. Die 1788 erbaute Kirche war eine Tochterkirche derjenigen von Grandfontaine, von der sie 1807 losgelöst wurde. Sie ist den Hl. Peter und Paul geweiht. Bevölkerung: 1764, 390 Einw.; 1818, 536; 1920, 488.
