Gem. und Dorf. E. gehörte mit Ehstegen, Eppishausen und Buch ackernz. T. in die sog. hohen Gerichte, die dem Landvogt direkt unterstanden. Kirchlich zu Sulgen gehörend, streb ten die Evangelischen schon 1717 und 1745 eine eigene Kirche an, die 1763 erstellt und von Sulgen aus pastoriert wurde. Erst 1819 kam ein Friedhof und damit das Begräbnisrecht hinzu. Seit 1870 Sekundarschule. [Sch.] ERLENBACH
