History
Politische und Kirchgem. Vernalis 1192. Das Kapitel der Stiftskirche Agno erw arb 1192 daselbst einen Teil der Grundrechte des Bischofs von Corno; die übrigen Rechte des Bischofs wurden 1824 zurückgekauft. Das Dorf gehörte im Mittelalter zum concilium Sanctæ Maria; de Ju venia (Iseo, Cimo, Aranno und Vernate); es wird aber 1335 als Gem. erwähnt und muss wenigstens eine geVERNEAU wisse Verw altungsautonomie besessen haben. Die alte kirchliche Zugchögkeit blieb bestehen. In der 1. Hälfte des 15. Jahrh. hatte die Gem. dem Herzog von Mailand 9 Soldaten und Kriegsmaterial zu stellen. Eine Kaplanei wurde 1692 in V. gegründet, das Dorf 1788 kirchlich von Sta Maria von Iseo abgetrennt. Die Ende des 16. Jahrh. erbaute Kapelle San Roccomachte 1750 der heutigen Pfarrkirche Platz.
