Chantuoro 1288; Chantouroz 1453; Chanteurre im 15. Jahrh. Der Name soll im Keltischen «weisses Schloss» bedeuten und auf einen befestigten Platz Hinweisen. Es wird erst seit dem 13. Jahrh. erwähnt. Seine der hl. Jungfrau geweihte Kirche hing vom Priorat Lutry ab. Dieses besass auch das eigentliche Dorf, das von der Herrschaft St. Martin du Chêne abgelöst worden zu sein scheint. Das Priorat Lutry unterhielt in Ch. Mayoro, deren Amt erblich wurde und auch unter der Berner Herrschaft for tdau e rte. — DHV. [M. R.] CHAMPVENT
