History

Gem. und Dorf, ziemlich bedeutende gallorömische Ansiedelung. Im Mittelalter gehörte M. zur Herrschaft Bottens; 1535 erhob es der Bischof zu einer besondern Herrschaft für seinen Münzmeister Jean Real. Die Llerrschaft ging 1594 an die Saussure über, die sie bis zur Revolution beibehielten. Die St. Nikolaus geweihte Kirche gehörte dem Kapitel Lausanne. Nach der Reformation bediente der gleiche Pfarrer M. und Montheron. Major Davel ist im Pfarrhaus von M. bei seinem Vater geboren.
